That actually is an issue, but not a problem ;)

Just to make sure: I'm not anti Columbus or anti Diezel. By far I'm not :D But the guy who originally asked for a midi pedal doesn't want or can't spent that much money on it. So he asked for a cheaper solution. It doesn't help if a few people keep on suggesting the Columbus even knowing he won't be able to buy it anyways  So with a very easy mod the Z-12 can properly operate with any Diezel amp. It is well build and will survive even hardest stage action. Out of all named pedal it will give the best value for money.

Doesn't the amp start to vomit if you hook up an Engl thing to it

In all seriousness: Nobels MF1 or MF2. Both run off phantom power and are easily available in europe.

I was afraid about that, but i covered the Engl logo with the black lamination so I fooled my VH-4

They're are supposed to be great boards especially for the price. The MF1 runs for about 50 or 60€ used.

LOL this was very funny :)

I use the voodoo lab ground control. It works really great and is easy to setup. Plus it has two pedal inputs.

everytime our second guitarist enters the rehearsal room with his powerball, herbert turns automatically off, jumps of the box and beams itself into my car. :D

imho, the ground control pro is the best midi controller out there. when paired with the gcx system, the possibilities are endless...

the other guitarist i play with has used a behringer 1010 w/ his framus cobra and diezel vh4 for 5 years!!! its survived everything from drunken operators to soakings in beer and other various liquids... i have to say, its a good pedal.

ok thanx everyone ;)

i'll think on it ;)

can the herbert power the z12 with the 5pin midi cable ?

Cheers

It can, but you have to change the pin assignment inside the Z-12 because Engl and Diezel use different pins for power supply.

@Scott: I'm sure the Columbus is great and built like a tank, but it obviously (and no offense meant here) is overpriced. The Z-12 can do everything the Columbus can do, just without having the cool look. So only if I had enough money that I wouldn't have to think about prices I'd go for the Columbus.

so what have I exacly to do modifying the midi cable ? have i to change the pins position, right?

so..how? do i need a 5 or 7 pins midi cable then?

thank you

I'm not trying to

but Columbus works out of the box...think about all the time you can save...time = money. ;)

if you want to make me a present, ok buy me a Columbus ;)

i need the procedure to make work a Rocktron MIDI Mate Pedalborad on the Herbert.

the unit accepts power from the 9VAC/1.5A adaptor supplied with the unit or via phantom power too.

The power cord may be plugged into a special MIDI "Y" cord (Rocktron
Part# 006-1097) to power the MIDI Mate™ through pins 6 and 7 of the MIDI
Mate™ MIDI OUT jack. Rocktron also has a 5 to 5 pin MIDI cable (Part# 001-
1095) and 7 to 7 pin MIDI cable (Part# RMM900) available to power the MIDI
Mate™ through phantom power on other products.

5-pin cable is fine. Please check the manuals to spot the pins that have be changed. Both, the Diezel and Z12 manuals show a pic of the pin assignment.
The pins themselves stay where they are, you just need to change the wiring, either inside the Z12 oder the cable's midi jack.

i'll go for the Rocktron midi mate v.2

manual say :
