I want an auto otf…I’m not spending microtech money though….
I have been testing a knife I bought about 2 years ago. It's an OTF that's kind of a MT clone from a Texas company called Cobratech. The medium FSX. Mine is a dagger profile, D2. Chinese D2, but it's not bad. Holds an edge and fairly easy to sharpen with diamond stones or ceramic. I paid about $100 for it and have not been particularly nice to it. It's holding it's own.

These prices are a bit higher than what they go for on the street.

Legal ? Why wouldn't it be ?

Well weird thang around here you can open carry an M-14 sniper rifle with 500 rounds but fixed blades are illegal and so is any folding blade more than 4 inches in length. This of course if you follow the Law.
Shameless plug for the Springfield 7.62x51mm NATO M-14 i used one in the Military. Gimme that over a 5.56.

I thought you lived in Missouri ?

Cheap & legal 24 / 7 defender. More than sharp & adequate.
Recommendation for a sub $100 fixed blade ? Chinese obviously will have to be acceptable, but I prefer D2 or better steel. 4-6" range. Partially serrated ok.

Look for a Puma Bowie. They have both Germany & Imports with that brand.
Puma knives solingen germany has been in business 300 years.

They had good steel by sixties standards. They are just overpriced bullshit these days though I like the designs. My old man had a White Hunter he'd get pissed at me about because I couldn't keep my hands off it. If I was a Chef I would be packing a Waidblatt in the kitchen in case I needed to slice an elephant into steaks for a customer.

My bud made me a viking seax but he was not that experienced yet. The handle was the same size as a kitchen knife thus making it unusable. Then he decided to curve the end so it looked like a bowie. That's not what I wanted. If I wanted a bowie I would have said make me a bowie. Oh well...I never said anything because he was so proud of it and I didn't want to hurt his feelings. I gave it away....

you don't hear much about them ,but tops are an excellent blade. I have also had excellent cold steel products also. even though they are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

They offer different pricepoints. The lower cost knives have synthetic stag instead of real.
The steel aint too bad for the price.
My old man was Military he carried a Puma Skinner.
Quite a few Special Forces Operators in Vietnam carried Puma's.

Nice Dan! I have long thought that the Puma Skinner was the best looking skinning knife of all time. Solingen steel was top of the line during the 'Nam era. It can't really be compared to magnacut though. I wish Puma would update the old designs with newer steel. I would pay a premium for that.
