Who is using preamps / rack these days?

I never knew GMW made Lesters ! That's cool ! I have a VH II black and yellow strat with a GMW body and a Wayne maple neck and an old non fine tuning Floyd...Lee does super paint.

I'll get a hold of LASD for sure and pick their brains about the RSB18R and F units...I have an RSB12R and F also...

We definitely share an appreciation for similar gear. I have 3 GMW's and love them all. Kage and Ralph (Gainfreak) turned me onto GMW.

I think that will be well worth the effort.

I see CAE 4x4 switchers, and RS10's go on the used market now and again, for very reasonable prices, so worst case scenario, you update a bit and it doesn't have to be painfully costly.

Best wishes on your rig quest. It's a fun ride, and the fun is only surpassed by reaching the goal line and enjoying the freedom to play.

I had seen your black and yellow VHII strat before...that's an ORIGINAL holy grail Charvel...no ? I would KILL for that. I have a black and white Art Series and a Kramer 1984 Reissue also.

I have 2 black and yellow striped guitars. One is a GMW start to finish. The other is a Charvel body w/ a GMW neck, w/ an unpainted headstock.

The one you may be thinking of was a pre-production Charvel. That one is gone. It belonged my tech/friend- Carlos.

Very cool. What is that white Explorer in the pic above ? I have a white with gold hardware Gibson Explorer from '81...like Matthias Jabs' guitar without the black stripes.I think we share a brain gear wise...I have an Atomica, Mesa Mark III blue stripe, Egnater modded Marshalls, lots of Lesters and super strats, and a METRIC SHIT TON of rack gear...LOL

When you change presets on your floor controller, do you change presets/settings on your rack gear or do you leave them on one setting all the time ? eg the Eventide Harmonizer and the PCM 80/81 and the tc2290 ?

The explorer is an Agile Ghost.

Yes, we do share some common views on the gear to 'get it done'-- alright. Good stuff!!!

When changing presets, I also MIDI Map (change programs) the individual units (Usually) ex. the DBX 160A, TC 1210, and Dytronics CS5 are either on/off, but the H8000FW, TC2290, and Lexicon PCM81 will be programmed to call up a particular patch per preset, and I program the floor controller so that when I step on a given preset, the status of the loops if OFF, will have the patch I want called up, so when I access it via the Direct Access switches, I have the sound I need/want.

I recently picked up my first rack rig in prob 10 years....a Mesa Quad Preamp/2:90 poweramp. Needless to say this rig just CRUSHES in my stereo setup. It sounds better than any of the MKIII and MKIIC+ heads that I owned in the past (which totals around 6 different amps). Now I'm on the hunt for a JMP-1 preamp to compliment it and I will be set!!!
Dude, experiment with some pedals through the clean channel first, it might save you the hassle of the JMP....not that the JMP is bad of course...:)

Good point!!! The clean channel on the IIC mode is  :inlove:

I had a 2 channel Plexitone a while back that sounded great through a Hendrix sig head set clean...maybe I'll give that another whirl.

That is truly boner inspiring shit right there. Very impressive man.

Thanks! It does what I want without compromise, and has been reliable so far, since 2008.
Reliable and without compromise? What's that?
As a guitar player and fellow GAS addict I thought this was only folklore.

Unlike the typical GAS addict, I wasn't only looking for a 2D solution. I wanted a 4D solution, so did what I thought made sense. I didn't just spend, spend, spend hoping for street cred, or have aspirations to be a collector and recognized among my dentist peers like at thegear page. I KNEW what I wanted... AND Why, to do what I want and get it done the way I wanted.

I see the problem that MOST of those afflicted w/ G.A.S face, as being the result of having no real aim, or grasp on the big picture.

I've been playing around all day with different rigs and think I have settled on my rack Soldano Hiwatt/SLO with 2-3 Himmelstrutz boost pedals into a Two-Notes LIVE. Probably going to try the Vintage Revolution PedalPro (which may dump one or two of the boost pedals) with it. All racked, ready to roll.

Right on. My problem is that I think I know exactly what I want and build a rig only to get bored with it a year or so later and then I start over.

I understand, which is why I built in an easy way to change the core amp tones available-- in the rig design, because my need or desire can and does vary widely-- often too. I realized that I needed to build in a means to avoid obsolescence, so I chose things like the Eventide H8000-- which is WAY overkill and why I rather have more and not need it, than to approach it from a less is more position. Less is just LESS. ;)
