Wizard MTL vs MC shootout UPDATE WITH DOUBLE TRACK IN ORIGINAL POST

It’s an MC.

On the lead channel, really only difference from the MC2 is that there is no contour. But the contour is best up high on the MC2 IMO … which basically negates the effect(negative feedback)
Can you dial in some more high mids on the MTL like the MC has? The MTL seems dark, low end heavy, and scooped to me in this demo.

When I had a 2012 MTL, and a 2010 MC100 no...the MTL is limited in how much midrange you can dial. While the 2010 MC could 'almost' get the scooped tone of the MTL. But, those were older models so maybe the newer are very different.

High mids not really to me. Can get some more presence. The MTL is naturally more dark, bigger ass, and scooped.

I’ll redo the tones here double tracked so that helps evaluate a bit more too.

That 50w 6L MC is one of the better Wizards I’ve owned. That amp got me to buy other 50w wizards and now that’s all I have left of the many Wizards I’ve owned.
Idk what it is about this one man. It might be my favorite out of all of them…. If it’s boosted potentially including the hell razor. Amp has the secret sauce.

i dont know man, you're a really good player with a ton of cool amps with clips i think sound great, so dont think im knocking you in any way, and i hate to always be the only one bashing wizards, but just keeping it 100 as i hope and expect everyone would with me when i post clips.. both these sounds terrible :dunno: both are loose, raggidy, bloated, muffled and i just dont know. i know now ill get the same responses and probably some PM's like i always do from wizards owners attacking me for my opinions, but the whole wizard thing is something i just dont understand
I agree with you 100% on this, I didn't care for the clip either, rather harsh, bloated mess. I've wanted to get a MTL for a while but after all the clips i've heard I don't think i'm gonna do it. I mean there is the in the room sound, but the sound under a mic is the way everyone is going to hear it, so that's important to me.

So I’m not missing anything on my 2016 MT by not having the contour control? I’m not a negative feedback guy at all, prefer it off.

Cool comparison! I absolutely LOVE my 2016 EL34 MTL, such an evil, menacing sounding beast.

People pm you for not liking wizards? Lmao

Maybe I’ll try with the MTL and run the saturation a little lower. Was at 5, maybe some unwanted flub there. I’ll do that for the double track. I could’ve faked it and eqd and all that stuff but wanted an honest mono representation here. But I understand all the tones we hear are all doubled. So I’ll do that at some point. I did want to showcase in mono what you’d hear difference wise and it is 100 percent that the MC has less low mids than the mtl, and more high mids. And also true this particular MC is a monster lol.

What's that I smell? The greatest Wizard comparison video ever between a boosted MC, boosted MTL, and unboosted HR?

Sorry just thinking out loud, hah.

I'm looking at that right now. All in 50w. Tough choice...If I only kept one, it'd be the MTL mk2 KT66 60w. Probably my favorite of all the Wizards I've owned.

I like the MC vastly better.

The MTL sounds good too but the low end is too bloated for my taste

Nice playing Bram

People who hate wizards just tend to hate everything people spend lots of money on lol

No. I wouldn't sweat it. There are various (unadvertised) tweaks throughout the years that impart minor differences when set the same though. Whether one year is better than another is subjective. I generally negate the contour on my MC2

The MTL is more low mid. If upper mids are your thing and you want more gain, I'd say get the MC2 and boost it. The mk2 MTL has the mid sweep that helps a little and you can get more upper end grind with the presence...which is good enough for me.

Definitely some of this going on. Except people who buy BMWs truly are assholes. lol

NAH BRAH MY CAMRY JUST AS GOOD AS YOUR JAGUAR

If I ever got an MTL it would definitely be the MK2 because of this, but I think I would prefer an MC2 just because I need tightness for the stuff i like to play. Does the mark 2 MTL tighten up with a boost though? I only ever hear people dial these amps like living room warriors in the clips though, so i'm not confident like I am about the MC, VC, and Metal, which i've actually played in person

....Aand this is why you need to try one in person....because, once yet again, the CLIPPZZZ thing rears its ugly head yet again. I get that every clip not everyone will dig. But, anyone who's ever heard/played a Wiz in person is usually impressed...maybe not 5-7K impressed but still impressed.

Every amp that you bash because of DA CLIPPZZZ is a really great amp in the room...SLO, Wizards....which proves to me exactly why I could care less about clips, or peoples opinions of them. They really don't define any amp, ever.

So just explain to me how it works.. Myself and Bram have a couple of the same amps, the clips he has done of those amps are accurate to what i hear in my room, hence my trust in his clips, along with a few other guys... what changes when its a Wizard that what is accurate for every other amp all of a sudden isnt accurate and i shouldnt have any kind of opinion?? im not understanding. i like his hellrazor clips.
