I know it was Rectos, Kranks, and I believe a Marshall of some variety.

oh my god someone else uses the Kranks? The Rev One on standalone basis blows but in a mix, it just adds this unreal chug and chunkiness to the sound!

I've owned the Krankenstein, Krankenstein+, and chadwick, and liked all of them. The sweep on the Stein didn't have a large usable range, but man that thing could get brutal and tight.

What is that? A 5150?
According to Adam and Joel...here is a quote from an interview when asked about what was used for As Daylight Dies. I am sure they added in some 5150 or something else. I thought I read that Adam likes to mix and layer amps.

Amps and effects

Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel

In the studio for the recording of "As Daylight Dies", Dutkiewicz stated, that they used a "guitar plugged into a Soldano [modified Soldano SLO-100] plugged into a Mesa Boogie cab. We never really got too crazy with the guitar stuff at all. It's just plug in a good guitar into a good amplifier, into a good cabinet."

We do this every other month but it is always fun :D

Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz (all kinds of stuff but lots of 5150, Mesa, Fryette, Soldano, as mentioned) of Killswitch Engage
Mick Thompson (Rivera KR7 [sig Knucklehead] and Jim Root (Orange Rockerverb) of Slipknot
Bill Kelliher (JCM800s, Friedman Butterslax) and Brent Hinds (Marshall JMP, Orange Thunderverb) of Mastodon
Tim Mahony (Mesa Dual Rectifier, Badlander, and Bogner Ubershall) of 311 - not really metal but metal'ish

I don't know how "modern" being from the 2000's or how "Metal" it really is, but I love the tone on Shadows are Security by As I Lay Dying.

The tone is from around the same time as The End of Heartache which everyone raves about. I like it, but I prefer this one for that style of music, personally.

I don't listen to any music by artists that started putting music out 2000 and onwards.

I want to know, in your view, what are some of the holy grail modern metal tones for the:

2020s
2010s
2000s

Tones that all the youngsters think of the way some of us think of VH1, Black Album...etc.

Bonus points if you can ID the amp used to achieve said tone
Anything Rich Ward (Stuck Mojo/FOZZY) has his hands on. Think it was some type of 50w 800 into Pulsonic Greenback 4x12's
