BIG TRUTH right there haha.

I've never dealt with him either but just seeing the way he speaks to people online and constantly hocks his shit definitely turned me off from ever being interested in his products.

What event/product has lead to the explosion of "new" noise gates on the market?

Seems like just 5 years ago most people used the NS2 or decimator, maybe the MXR or rocktron gates. Now its like there is a new gate on the market every month.

Zuul

Or more accurately, the Marshall JCM800KK apparently
Yes but it wasn't until Fortin made the zuul and it blew up that every builder hopped on the train.

I like it, more options for us. Nevermind that they're all copies, claim to be better and overpriced.

Unfortunately not too many amp builders hopped onto the built in Decimator circuit train.

I have had no personal experiences with Joe, but I've honestly steered clear because of his reputation.
I was on that FB page but couldn’t stand all of the hype and bullshit with LWA. I’m sure he makes some great pedals, but I just couldn’t stand the know it all attitude. I wish I was back on to see the reaction of the masses being duped by a Zuul clone. I thought the Endless Blockade was an okay pedal…I just didn’t need an noise gate these days.

The Deadweald Golem was something I begged for after getting the Duality DX. I wanted a gate that I didnt have directly tied to a boost in the rare occasion that I don't use the Duality. Since Daniel at Deadweald is an actual Electronic Engineer who builds pedals as a side gig he built the gate for me and ordered enough parts to do several runs. He really didn't want to build one since there are so many on the market but really there isn't. Since most of them use the same chip and practically the same design there are limited options. That's the reason why a lot of companies are just doing a certain amount of batches like the Cockblocker. After seeing daily post with people looking for a boost it seemed like a good idea at the time. I just really didnt want a Fortin pedal on my board anymore with the weirdly aggressive Fortin Army and the way they acted about the Sigil issues.

The Deadweald Golem uses a different chip than the Zuul. There are different chips you can use, you just have to know what you are doing to a certain extent. I personally wouldn't have cared if it was a direct copy of the zuul as long as it had the features I wanted but Daniel is the type of guy that doesn't want to do something if he doesn't have something to offer. I respect that and I am really happy with the end results.

Where can you buy the Golem gate?

I have both and prefer the endless blockade. If it's a clone of the zuul, which doesn't make any sense as it has 3 knobs vs 1... well he did a better job

This.

The blockade is a way more functional and versatile gate, either way.

I have an Acheron too, which replaced literally everything in my effects loop on my Larry. It's a fantastic pedal.

I have a Zuul and it works perfectly for what I need. Not sure what you need to mod or change about it and why is 3 knobs better than 1 on a gate? It serves 1 purpose for most and 1 knob does the job.

Also, I wouldn't give a nickel of my money to that fucking guy. I've watched him argue and belittle people all too often on HMAP FB page. That South Park Meme is a accurate representation of him no doubt, haha

Yeah the Lone Wolf Audio guy is a manchild of the highest order....plus his pedals are ugly af

That meme still has me laughing. That group is interesting for sure.

I have the Duality on the way. Curious what that pedal will be like. Using the Henning boost and NS2. Will be shocked if the Duality replaces them.

The henning boost? Is that the one that is based on the standout? I think it's a matter of taste at this point but I was using either the Standout or the Maxon od808 as my boost before I got the Duality. The Standout is a fantastic boost but I just bonded with the green channel if the Duality instantly. As far as the NS-2 the built in gate on the Duality is better. I used an NS-2 for a good bit and I dont miss it at all.

Yeah man. He really is on a whole other level of b.s. Like him getting mad about boss doing a waza craft that he has made a career of building modified clones of. Say what you want about boss but there would be a lot of builders who wouldn't exist today without them leading the way.

The endless blockade sporting Shotty over sized holes that cause noise when bumped, strange foam piece inside with pc boards just floating around and poor soldering ...any wonder I have so many issues with noise when its supposed to block the noise...

This is just beyond pathetic  I can't believe people actually pay for that garbage

Yep, it IS a standout exactly. Is what I am told.

He bought some DIY kits from Peter Rutter VFE
