Did you get to turn it up? I assume so...but...this more than maybe any other amp needs high volume to really do its thing...although I enjoyed the MC100 I had at lower volumes as well. In fact, that amp, at a whisper volume almost sounded like a Trainwreck "amps gonna blow up" thing; no idea...

Do you have a good modeler yet? If most of your purpose/time spent with your gear is recording, make it easy on yourself and grab an AXE or Kemper or Helix et al....and just go direct into your computer. No super $$ mics, soundproofing your recording room, yada yada...just plug in and hit go on...

Killer clip! Wizards always deliver. The MC100 I had was amazing with a boost; as long as I left the onboard boost off it took the pedal like a champ. Not many amps compare to a 100w Wizard, exceptions being an old Superlead + pedals or a HiWatt + pedals. Like a musical carnival ride.

Just get a III. That's what he liked, that's what he should get. The lower wattage/newer amps are cool, but have the limitation of being new and having little punch compared to the vintage versions. He might, every once in a while, want to open it up for fun. With a III he'll enjoy it more than...

This is the right answer. Wizards are killer as well...and, I also played an amp that gets a lot of love here. It was tight, lots of gain...but no character at all. It's like the modder took the parts out that made it a vintage Marshall(a 79 2204) and turned it into a sterile boring modern...

I'm confused. Those Marshalls must be covering up a rack of 5150s. Cuz they're the bestest amps EVAR.

Dio Sabbath is killer. Mob Rules was the first one I heard; I was 12 yo when HH came out...I heard it on the Heavy Metal soundtrack record I bought in the early 80s. I had always read that HH was Marshall; and MR was Mesa. The tones between both albums seem to fit that analogy.

DeOxit D5 for me as well; same procedure. Never an issue.

My 72 Trem came to me from England in 2020; seller said he got it from the original owner and the Siemens 34s/Tungsram pres were all original to the amp. They bias in at about what your numbers ^^ are and it sounds so good, I'd hate to mess with success so to speak and try a better matched quad.

I'll just mention that, I've never noticed a tonal improvement when I match (within 1-2ma of each other) vs a quad of, lets say 30ma on the low side to 40ma on the high side. In fact, those quads for some reason sound better in my amps.

Cameron would sometimes do that; as well as Jose from what I've read. Whatever works, works.

One additional use is the PS as a slave amp with a W/D/W setup, which is easily and by FAR the best way to run effects. Best tone, hands down. However, it IS more gear to lug around as you'll need an additional cab. I had a PS briefly but as I already had a great WDW setup, I didn't need it for...
