I don't care how the amp sounds, the transformer tabs bent over the chassis whould be a deal breaker for me. I've never seen anything like that. It's a lack of attention to detail.

At this point even if the amp was perfect, after reading Jerry's responses, he needs to go read business 101 for dummies.....dude your supposed to be a professional when you are conducting business....I can see some teenager reacting the way you do in your emails....but you are the business owner...how can you even remotely expect to have a respected reputation and then say the crap you say????

really?? you actually sent back to a customer that you have disconnected your paypal from your bank account and thanks for the 800 bucks??????

Its guys like this that have me questioning ANYTHING I buy from a small builder because you just never know if they are off the deep end or not.....I dont even expect shit like this when I buy and sell from individuals, let alone an established business?!! Its just crazy!!

Other small builders are EXTEMELY aware of that association. Steve with the Henning amps posts about that issue. I see he sells from built stock. Very cool.

Kyle at Rhodes, very open and communicating. We even talked about his knowledge of how people associate small builders in a lump. Again, a great guy doing all he can not to ever be anywhere close to that drama.

But even sellers are more wary. I stopped a sale once that just felt like it was getting odd. I have a few people on here I buy from and other regulars I would, but there are some crazy people out there.

Daneyo has a sweet Anderson for sale I would seriously like to pick up, no worries at all. But some random? NFW.

Aside from the condition of the amp it makes little sense to come out in public like this. It is just bad business/customer service airing dirty laundry like this. I'm not sure what the original intent of the thread but this certainly could have a negative impact on your business. If your policy is no refunds you should have just stuck to your policy. Hopefully you learned something here but unlikely judging how you directly deal with customers in a dispute. Your customer is ALWAYS right even when they are not. Save the insults and name calling for the kids, they're good at that. Be a professional in all you do.

Just remember people, just because one can build something, are good at it does not mean one possess the necessary skill set to effectively run a business on their own. I think in this case if a refund was agreed upon then a full refund should have been made upon receiving the amp back. I get the business world and things are tight but if profit margins are that small maybe do something else.

I don't entirely understand the motive for publicizing the affair. Winning public support from a bunch of relatively anonymous forum members wouldn't have changed anything. Tragic irony really.

I also don't understand how vastly different from the demo'd amp, the customer build could have been. From the OP, the only custom options appear to be hardware options. Not voiced any differently. I would have been interested in hearing the two side by side.

Different transformer, installed loop, maybe something else?
