Hey Larry, what cab do you feel is best suited for the Dino - rear loaded, front loaded, traditional size (more Marshall-like), or oversized (more Mesa OS like)?

What about speakers? I know Schaffer uses/used the G12T75. Are those the best speakers for the Dino or do you prefer the V30 or something else?

Very good question tbh.....To piggy back off that, when you designed these amps did you have a specific cab/speaker in mind? Try to make it work with many? Curious to hear the process behind that.

I met him once when he was in his prime fame time, he was the coolest most approachable dude ever. We walked around George's Music talking gear for an hour or so before he put on a jaw-dropping clinic.

I met him a few years ago after a Whitesnake show, and he was the same way. Totally cool and down to earth. We talked gear with him and he told us some really funny stories. The dude is fucking hilarious! He was talking to us like we’ve known him for years.

Why do I feel like I just saw his "oh face"?

I may be in the minority, but I've never been a huge fan of his. I love the fluidity of his legato lines, and he has a better melodic sense than a lot of shred-era guitarists, but I've never been blown away by his playing. Nothing he's doing wrong, just not my tastes.

Dat tone though

I was looking for a vid of Reb doing that 17 riff and ran across this 'how to tutorial' by RocknChippy

Look at that first YT Comment too

A few years ago I was watching various tutorials on how to play it...dudes were arguing in the comments about who's way was closer and blah...so Reb had put together a tutorial himsoelf...on his lick... ? so I went with his tutorial after all. It's since been taken down/no longer there...wonder if he got a stearn warning from YT about copyright infringements. Shit that makes you go hmmm.

I'm glad to read (above) that Reb IS the dude that he appears to be..From what I've seen on the interwebz

DINO's are sounding best through Marshall 4*12" straight cabs, of corse closed back and rear mounted speakers almost any kind of Celestion except Alnico's and Pre-Rola's
For the sound tailoring of the DINO's mostly I've used mid 70' G12M Blackback, G12H Creamback, 80' G12-65, G12-70, G12T75 and 90' G12V30

No matter which of the mentioned speakers you're using, the amp always is not only sounding 'good' but awesome with those, while my personal fav is a straight 4*12" cab loaded w/ 2 pcs. G12M Blackback on bottom and 2 pcs. G12H Creamback top in the cab. I very much like the warmth of the G12M and the bite of the G12H

What I really can't recommend is any Fane or Jensen speaker. I don't like the brittle of new speakers, even not Celestion's when they still are new, hence I recommend to watch out for older used ones or choose the particular alternatives of Scumback. Jon Schaffer's T75's are from the 80' and also he doesn't like the brittleness of new T75's

I've never tried Weber or Warehouse speakers, but a big surprise in positive has been the slightly smaller Soldano 4*12" cab V30 loaded - full into your face, but in no way acidly.

To expound a little further, is it the 55hz or 75hz G12M blackback that you prefer?

In addition to being smaller, I believe the Soldano is also front loaded.
Edit: I forgot one thing. Do you find the Dino prefers running 16 or 8 ohm cabs? I find some amps don’t have a preference, while some amps do.

Thanks for the heads up, since this is a really important fact - the 75Hz types.
The 55Hz types are sounding too dull.

Correct, front loaded - the Soldano cab is an exception, because usually I like the sound of rear loaded speakers better.

There are only nuances of a difference and I've noticed, that not so many guitar player can tell the difference, but IMO best result you're getting with 16 Ohms cabs connected to the 16 ohms secondary. The sound then is slightly more detailled, while the other extreme all 4 ohms I'd miss some highs and the overall sound is deeper/darker. Keep in mind, that we're speaking about small nuances, which many can't notice ;)

Larry - why don't you get some clips up of your amp?

Dang, real cool of him to just pop up in random youtube vids to drop some knowledge.

It's insane the amount of stuff that's either been taken down for copyrights or just deleted.

And the guy on here who supposedly just got his Larry amp and loves it isn't posting clips either. All great reasons why I wonder why anyone cares about all of this.

There is whole albums made with Larry amps! Shitless clips from some guy off his iPhone? Dude, I do that and I can make just about any amp sound great, want clips? https://youtu.be/42cYArBVdzc?t=31

Larry has nothing, absolutely nothing to prove. He makes and sells his amps no fucking problem, to him anyway. He has a major ass bigtime band that uses and endorses his amps, a waiting list, and whenever one of his amps comes up for sale it sells immediately for thousands more.

Calm down, he doesn't need to prove anything to me. I was just asking.

It would indeed be nice to have some proper clips to hear those amps. I am very curious.

Totally. You would think with the shear number of really shitty clips on youtube one would want something made/shared that is accurate to how amazing the amps really are. Or am I crazy in thinking this?

That's all I was trying to say.

And if I couldn't play or didn't have good tone (both debatable) I'd at least pay someone $100 bucks to post a real kick ass clip

It just appears to me that he has time, money and a penchant for detail - each amp is dialed in by him one at time.

You would think that clips of 6K amp would be provided. Larry reminding me of Alexander Dumble type guy.
