Is this part of conforming to the YT algorhithm, Bad.Seed?

Thing I like to keep in mind. Think back to the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, early 2000’s and try to find guitar related content to see how something works or sounds. It was almost impossible. Maybe word of mouth and monthly magazines at most, maybe an occasional mtv interview. Maybe that’s what gave some gear more mystique, who knows.

Now just about any gear I want to know something about is just a click away. We have more guitar related content to watch for free than we can ever consume. I’m appreciative of it.

+1 I’m glad he’s stepped up to provide content full time. I just hate he has to give into the cookie cutter bull (no pun intended) to do so.
 
i dont get it...why are we not allowed to make fun of people who we think are doing dumb shit?

every YT'er is free to make all the content they want on whatever topic they want. i can't stop them nor do i want to, as an american i want everyone to have the right to be free and express themselves however they want (irrespective of how i feel about it).

but by the same token, i'm allowed to express how i feel about their stupidity and personally i don't think shilling for gear companies is the answer. so i prefer to laugh at it.

there's already a forum where people's sensitivities are taken into account...let this one final bastion of free speech (rig-talk) exist for all that is holy (unholy?)
 
I like Kyle. He’s a good dude. Not sure why peeps are hating on Alan…. He’s my dude…. As someone who watches a lot of YouTube I get it. Clickbait titles and goofy expressions are aggravating to me. I also wish people would get to the point as well. My personal pet peeve is when people use the term-“without further adieu…” that is the most overused expression ever. And misused. Unless I’m mistaken adieu is another word for goodbye right? I barely speak English so I should probably leave the French alone…

That's about where I'm at - thousands of people's spouses have strokes every single day, most of whom I assume are far less well off than Glenn Fricker likely is (and who are also not giant douchebags)


And maybe I'm way off base here, but don't they live in Canada? Isn't healthcare there supposedly free (or mostly free)?

Have you guys ever heard of the philosophical concept called "the Narcisism of Small Differences"?

It's a concept where the smaller and more niche and close-knit a community is, the more its members will lock into the tiniest differences between themselves and get into overblown bitch fits and drama about dumb shit that doesn't actually matter, and they will do this to a much higher degree than most other groups, when what they would be better off doing is supporting each other because of how fucking small and niche the group is compared to everything else.

No idea why I'm bringing this up, it just kinda crossed my mind for some reason.

This would be insinuating that people inside that community were not supporting each other. Over time, there are people on this forum that would both admit don't like each other, that have helped each other. And might again. This is a place of expression, and freedom of speech.

I mean sure, but freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from the consequences of that speech. We're all free to talk as much shit as we like about youtubers trying to make a better living or medical issues they can't help. But what do you think happens to awesome places like this when they start getting so elitist that they find shit to talk about every single person who starts to reach out to the broader world? Those people with reach start to leave, which means less exclusive info here, less consolidated knowledge, less of everything until eventually nobody worth having around is around and you've got a dead community.

Do you think maybe there's a reason all those famous and influential guys people brag about rubbing elbows with here leave in the first place, or only browse incognito?

I'm not advocating for a bunch of dick sucking kumbaya or whatever but I am saying I think there is a line between shit talking with decency and humor, and just outright being shitty.

I just don't think this place is elitist in any sense of the word. Sign up, 50 posts, free classfieds. Everyone is welcome. Very few bans.
