There is already talk of pre-Brad amps being more desired than the post Brad amps in various places on the net...Mark has stated he didn't give you the "real designs", I don't know if that's Mark being Mark or any kind of truth, but it creates doubt in people's minds that you'll have to overcome...good luck. I'm waiting on the mini CCV...

Wasn't stirring the pot...just relaying what I've seen crop up on the 'net. I love my Atomica and Brad era CCV, but I've never played a pre Brad to know if there's any difference...so maybe someone who has will chime in here...

I still have an Atomica and it is a great amp IMO. Wanted the CCV, but we know how that turned out. I never played any of the pre-Brad stuff so I wouldn't know?

I hate to break your heart but that is not likely to happen.

I still call Mark at least every month to talk and text him as well......Great dude...Very talented and really dig his amps  They just work for me!!!

If you don't mind me asking, is the lack of activity on the Cameron Facebook page a sign that things aren't going well? Last post mid-June and now it's a ghost town. I was hoping things had been worked out with Brad and Co., and that something positive would materialize.

All activity on the Cameron branded amps that we were producing has been on hiatus since last year. Everyone who ordered a Cameron amp from us got an amp or a refund if they didn't want to wait for it.

To our knowledge Mark and a few new "partners" were going to build amps again under the Cameron name in direct violation of his agreement. The right to build them notwithstanding we knew based on our experience that the new "pirate venture" would not end well.

We have been monitoring that situation and it looks as if it has now stalled out which was in our opinion inevitable. Rob, I and Dave have plans to release all of the Cameron designs that we have the rights too under a totally new amplifier brand with a tentative name of SoCal Amplification.

Details to follow as it develops.

Brad

We've butted heads on this before so I'm not interested in beating a dead horse, but do you think people aren't going to realize that these are the same Cameron designs that have been re-branded? You're still going to have all the bad karma associated (unless you attempt to right the wrongs of the past).

I know the situation isn't even nearly your fault, but I feel that the reputation of Tone Merchants and King Guitar has suffered greatly due to this fiasco. I know there are a large contingent of folks out there who have stated that they will NEVER buy from TM or KG because of this.

Not trying to stir the pot, just interested in reasonable discussion.

It is what it is. People want the amps and we want to make them. Its still way to premature in the process but we get calls everyday by guys wanting these amps. We lost a ton of money and got a black eye trying to do it with Mark. Thats done, anything we do going forward would have nothing to do with him. The facts are we tried to do it with Mark and it didn't work. Ok we are big boys and we made good on all of the orders we took and all of OUR customers got an amp, a refund or another product and then we put it on hiatus.

We worked too long and hard to not let these amps see the light of day. They will be made and available under a new name, not trying to hide the fact they are the Cameron designs, we own the designs, we just don't want Marks name on it. If people don't want the amps then the the market will let us know.

Thats all.

Yes, I understand your point of view, but as you claim you own the schematics by the contract, this is the bonus part on the contract, but I want to know if you will honor the onus part too.

+1

To be crystal clear we will not be taking on any of Mark Cameron's bad deals that you may of made with him directly. We have nothing to do with him. We have honored all of our obligations regarding the Cameron brand. If you lost money to Mark Cameron welcome to the club so have we. I would suggest you contact him and ask him where your money is. We certainly do not have and never have had it. Again to be crystal clear we are not assuming any of Mark Cameron's bad debt he owes you. He owes us too. He didn't make good when he had the opportunity and we got roasted for it. Not going to happen again.

Brad and Rob

Maybe someone can answer this question for me.

At what point does anyone hold Mark Cameron accountable for the 15 people he ripped off and all the investors he screwed over?

Chris Schmidt who is about as nice and honest business guy out there, lost almost 200 grand on Mark.

Mark ripped off 45 grand worth of clients money. Not to mention all the amps he had for mods. Mark actually destroyed Jay Stranges amp, because Jay upset him.

Brad and I lost about 20 grand on our Cameron venture, not to mention out of the 15 guys Mark ripped off, 3 of those guys got replacement amps and that money came out of Brad and my pocket.

And to top it off, Mark did nothing but extort money from us. When Mark signed a contract, he knew what his compensation would be. after all, he was already compensated 45 grand by trusting clients.

When I finally said I would not be giving him any more money unless he actually completes the things we needed him to do, he quit, plain and simple.

Mark and Jason have publicly gone on this forum and Face Book stating they were going to take care of the people Mark ripped off.

Things are awful quiet from mark and Jason. My guess is Jason has had it with Mark already.

I have a pre-prod Mark Cameron built CCV and Atomica #008 which was gutted by Mark. I sold my Brad-era Atomica after receiving Mark's version. I also have the Brad-era Old Bitch.

This is my take on things. There are significant differences between these amps both sonically and feel-wise.

I think the hybrid designs will make for awesome amps and the majority of people will be VERY happy with them but I can say with certainty that Mark's own amps are much better all around.

Not discouraging the "SoCal" effort bc I think they will fill a void in the market but just being honest.
Wow, I'm surprised in a way to hear this. Your clips on the atomica and old bitch are one of the reasons I started gassing for an atomica. I thought it sounded killer, even if there were a few differences from marks hg Jose and Aldrich mods. How much did mark change on your newer atomica from your original one? Any new features etc?

I don't think anyone doubts Mark's talent for building amps and or his ear for solid guitar tones, but by most accounts his business sense and people skills are sub-par.

I would like a CCV too, but Hitler may be a few slots ahead of me...

After getting a Fortin/Gower modded amp, there is no need in going down the current Mark Cameron route unless you buy a used one plus you put money in the pocket of a talented and trusted individual such as Dan Gower and you get an amp back!!! That said, the Atomica is a bad ass amp even though it is not really a Cameron based on the experts here in RT and the Brad King era CCV is awesome as well. The Atomica does what I need and the Fortin/Gower does everything I need plus more!!

I think brad just bought the prototype back that mark put together prior to production... there is a video of him playing it and it sounds like his amp. If the SO/Cal amp is based on this amp how far off could it be? I think the string articulation difference is probably the result of using mercury magnetics instead of those inexpensive classic tone transformers. The mercury trannys can make the amp sound and feel a hell of a lot different... trust me! anyway... just a thought

Will Mercury sell those trannys to anyone ? Or only the OEM ? How do you order them ? Call Mercury and say I need a Power and Output trans and a choke for a King era CCV or Atomica ?

They will not sell any manufacturers approved transformers. You would need to have Brad or Rob get it for you.
