King of Clone 68 pedals kicks pretty hard!

Looks like I got boned on the clone.

No man, didn't you see ?! The sound is " more perfect" . I followed up and asked him if they just changed the sweep on the pot vs. the gain switch and he said yes. Probably a lie but it does sound good at least the way it is. "More perfect" hard to qualify but I'd give in a " perfect enough" for boosting. I leave the red side on boost at about 2 pm on gain and the yellow side just past 12' and in OD mod. They stack nice and the character sits really well on top of Marshall style gain. But Dave has the real more perfect 68 pedal.

That looks good. Build quality is there.

I'm guessing ours are based on the original KOT with maybe a change to the sweep of the POT and that's it. Overall my build quality is the same, nice nd neat, good joints. Sound wise I'm satisfied. Close enough I think. It's a good pedal but the guy is definitely not accurate in his listing and I think that is done on purpose.

Mine sounded fantastic for the 2 minutes that it worked. Not sure what happened. It was late and I was buzzed so I just shut everything off and went to bed. Will look into it further tomorrow when I have some time.

Confirmation from 68Pedals that my clone ships today. Maybe have it by this weekend depending on shipping from the other side of the world. I did pay the $15 for expedited but who knows.

lol I think it looks pretty good, it is thos gold caps at the top which give the mojo. All in all you are good to go. I am very curious as to how many guys are working out of the same shop. There is probably 68 pedals guy and then a bunch of dudes using same enclosures, fake analogman enclosures, and diff circuit boards for the "original" design. I think personally the fake enclosure oversteps but i guess by buying the other version i am also contributing to the problem and allowing the chinese pedal makers to take over the world.

After two weeks on the board though, I love it BUT I am slowly creeping back to my JHS Bonsai in ODR mode as my main drive. If you put it on the Keeley setting or JHS setting, it is almost hard to beat. What a pedal the JHS is. It also will end up being a clone soon enough I imagine !

The midrange voice of all these pedals is a little different and finding a perfect match for the mids of the amp is what we're all chasing I think. Then we change guitars and it all changes again. Some pedals are adding these extra controls with names like Air or Character or whatever and they sort of change the voice. I recently got a JHS @+ pedal and it has an Air control...to me it makes it sound a little less pedal-like when set right.

I think you nailed it. We are all chasing a certain companion for the mids. First variable amp. Then guitar wood. Then pickups. So axe to axe you may like or like/less. That's why I have always had 2 OD's on my board. The AT + looks nice but i'm holding out for JHS to do something like 6-8 diff distortion circuits in a pedal like he did for the Bonsai Maybe guvnor, RAT, distortion +, DOD 250 gre spec, BOSS orange Distortion, and a few others. That would be sweet. Hey Josh you reading this??!

If that green A>B Drive control does anything like I think it does...that's a really cool feature.
If the A>B stacking option weren't there, I doubt I would own the pedal. Van Halen "MCMLXXXIV" in a box, and beyond. Side A in "Bluesberry", side B is traditional Hotcake w/buffered output. Best used with NMV Marshall and VOX.

What`s the 68 pedal based off of?
The Analogman KoT that has wait list and huge second hand prices. What the KoT is based off of I don't know.

I did read on an old TGP thread where analogmike said something to the effect that the internal treble knobs affect the output impedance so what you place after the pedal might influence those settings. I just today opened mine up and noticed that my Yellow treble trimmer is at like 1:00 where psychdave's is at 11:00 just like both of our Red treble trimmers. And I've always thought the Yellow side on mine was too bright and glassy...now I know why.

Yeah the yellow side is glassier anyway so I also dialed mine back to around 10:00

Stacking KOT yellow channel with Hotcake A channel sounds like a modified Marshall Super Bass. Same with the channel B, but with a slightly altered feel. No coloration with the Hotcake, so it's great for adding gain after MIAB pedals. I've tried running these with my Marshall SJ... They work best with a NMV amp. My SJ seems to work best with a klone pedal.

There's something that you can do with the 68 Pedals KOC (lol) that you can't do with the Analogman KOT, I just can't remember what it is? It may be the Norm/High select for both channels, I'm not sure?

I'm not sure if any of the versions of the KoT had those switches. For my use I like them both in low gain mode anyway.
