King of Clone 68 pedals kicks pretty hard!

I purchased a 68 pedals King of clone. Overall nice sounding pedal and built well. I would gladly buy an actually Analogman (i am on the waiting list only 4 years to go!!). I am not going to pay $800-$1000 for a pedal due to flippers. I would pay analogman‘s new price but it is a lot for a pedal which I have not even been able to try due to there scarcity.

Even the POT is hard to get and after months of trying to buy dirct from analogman i gave up and bought the clone. Generally i am against buying clone pedals and happy to pay a little more to support the original designers company but in this case it is was it is. Analogman can’t keep up with supply and demand which leads to other options out there.

My 68Pedals KOT clone is on the way. Monday maybe.

That was so like 1 week ago! We're over it! :P

Still playing mine, I like it, but I don't think it kicks the Bonsai out of first place. I kind of wish mine was the real high gain version that it was supposed to be, not the clone of the original which is what it turned out to be.

The 68Pedals KOT clone arrived yesterday. I have not opened it up yet and only plugged it in to make sure that it worked for 5 minutes yesterday. Hitting the front end of a 2203X sounds promising. Should be another workable boost flavor on the board. Will get to spend some gig volume time with it in a few days.

Now I just need to figure out what the toggles do.

I used mine in front of my Nitro last night. Sounds good. It really sounds great with the Super Sport though.

Fek, did you open yours yet?

I'd like to order from the 68pedals guy, but it would be nice to get some reassurance that he hasn't begun using that green "Ly-Rock" circuit board without the normal/high gain switches.

Unlikely. LY Rock is another cloner that aims at the cheaper end of the local market. I got a KSR Ceres clone from him earlier this year and it was $60.

Yeah good ole Chinese IP theft.

Well, to be fair, it all started with everyone and their brother (including in the US)
ripping off the Japanese IP from the original tube screamers.

Every mid boosted OD pedal since has been a theft of one sort or another.

I did. Have a pic that I can post tomorrow.

Awesome, Fek, let's see that pic!

So, I contacted the 68pedals guy. I'm not sure how aware he is of what's going on, but he asked me for a photo of the "Ly-rock" board.

After sending him the photo, he replied, "Oh, that guy copied my pedal." So, it appears he is in fact working independently from those shysters that are using his own photos and description.

The 68 Pedals guy seems really cool. Cant get mad that someone is copying his copy.

Looks great! How are you liking it now that you've had it about a month?

I wonder how this KOT clone from DemonFX is? They're less than $70 on ebay.

Or this Caline cp-70 high chief which is around $50. Couldn't find any gut shots.

Mine is off my board.. I think the lack of HG side is sort of what booted it for me as I wanted a bit " more" on the red side. The orange side is good but I find a tad too much bass cut and honk. Back to the Bonsai and my DOD YJM 308 to grey spec which feels like a more natural extension of the gain on the amp. My King of clone CLONE sounds good but gives more of a hi-fi feel and I think i like to be on the grittier side. At the very least though, it is a nice cheap way to try out a pedal and both sides stacked is pretty good over a JCM800.
