Man, John Sykes passed away.

He was only 65.. damn he wasn't that old .
65 is the new 80 under new SS / Medicare leadership.
Recently i found out i cant retire til 67 cuz of politics pushed it back.
Gov only expects you to be around 5 years after you retire.
They're also. wanting to push retirement back again to 70. The walking dead.

Stunned. Had no idea he was battling cancer. John has always been on my 'Mt. Rushmore' of guitarists: tone, rhythm playing, lead, melody, songwriting, vocals. Total Package. Shit, I will turn 58 in March. If there is anything that is important for anyone to do or experience in life, do it NOW. Don't think you can save everything up for later. Later might just be today.

I saw this on FB and had to come here to verify. This is shocking. Didn’t see it coming. Big fan here. My condolences to his family.

God bless…. Rip….

“Still of the night”. Remember like it was yesterday when it came out and thought JS tone was different vs all the rest of the time. Still one of my favorite 80’s tunes ever written. 🫤. Getting old my friends.
I thought the same when I first heard the 1987 album as I was blown away by his ferocious playing and unbelievable tone and he didn't sound like anyone else . He was the reason I was so interested in Mesa Boogies in the earlier days.
