From what I heard in your video, the amps are super close, yes I hear some more warmth compressed saturation in the gain with the OG, but whose to say that won't come with aged components. Maybe brand new C+'s sounded like the reissue in 1983 with brand new caps and components and aged to what we players classify as the classic C+ characteristics.

I don't think the prices on the OG C+ will come down from the stratosphere but players will have an option now and as you said some might like the reissues more.

The new amp is great. At least we know the gain, tone is very good.
But, I think I hear what the guys who own the OG talk about. The definition in the chugs. Smooth, yet plenty of bite, squishy in the coolest way.

I'd buy the new one, but the old one has a magic thing to it, without a doubt. There is somethings subtle, but next level going on.

Thanks for taking the time to shoot this. Really enjoy your vids and this one is no exception 👍👍 Having listened to the vid ‘blind’ and through headphones I preferred the original slightly - it seemed slightly more vocal. That being said, they sound very similar and it’ll be interesting to hear the reissue again after some use.

Some random mid guitar player with a degree in Communications like Dinesh gets a job at Gibson and all of the sudden a shitter is in charge of the product launch for a legendary product reissue like this, and it goes to shit

There has to be millions of guitarists/engineers who could have made this amp sound like the hand of motherfucking GOD on recording, and yet the biggest instrument companies on earth fail over and over and over again.

It reminds me of the iconic launch a bit. Seriously, I used to think these people who ran gear companies actually knew about gear, but apparently they are all fucking morons who have no idea, which is terrifying.

I'm really starting to think Gibson/Mesa Boogie created a poll over at TGP asking what settings all the tone turds wanted to hear and went with that for its launch.

Nice job! Great video; and this just shows how important it is for the Mfr to get it right when it comes to demos.....had one like this been posted, we'd have had a MUCH different take.
The amp rips. Here's to hoping the feel gets equal to the OG after break in.
 
Reissues seem a little brighter/dryer maybe? Could just be the EQ being ever so slightly off. RI also maybe less well defined in the low end?

Also, live or in a mix I don't think I would ever be able to tell the difference. Shit even just zoning out with this video on in the background I'm probably not noticing.

Even if it’s not I’m sure when judging from amp to amp you’ll hear differences even amongst the OG’s. I’m sure if someone showed most of this the reissue clip and said it was an og most here wouldn’t have noticed

Which clip? Yours or the sweetwater/gibson ones?

Because I can assure you, most people would have noticed that no one dialed the amp in for the one tone it's known for :ROFLMAO:

The recent OG vs RI video. That one was the best one so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if the X transformer played a role in that video as well sound different
 
Amps do break in.. I forget his name that worked for Boogie BITD that did the final play testing. He said they would get amps back for repair that were completely changed for the better compared to new.
Look for that Thread on TGP..

Which version I preferred depended on the riffs.
Given how close they are with the exact same settings, I'm thinking you could get an even closer match with some adjustments to the RI, especially with the GEQ.
The only variable left is the feel, and it remains to be seen if the RI will "break in".
Overall, I'm starting to think Gibson actually made a decent amp here, not withstanding the crap-tastic corporate demos.
