Is that pic a Peavey Mace
Yes, I couldn't find another pic. that series of Classics is what I was referring to....the Skynrd era stuff. Not the current Classic series, those are ok.

That said my MK IV is going on the market soon, I like it alot but it aint no marshall.

Neither is the JVM.

Maybe you should revisit Ralph's JVM clip, everything at noon and just threw a mic in front ;)

Killertone also has some great JVM clips

Doesn't matter, i played Boogies, so did Ralph, and i sounded like me, Ralph sounded like Ralph. I owned the Mark V longer than the JVM if that means anything.

What do JVM's cost these days? $2000? You'd figure they could do better than those Fisher Price tone knobs

I was wondering what would happen if all of Neal's knobs fell off

Listen, when you stop playing those tugboats sanded by middle aged women and teenagers then we'll talk

Yeah, some of those old Peaveys were a little sketchy indeed, but like you said, the 90's-current classics are decent. Actually more than decent, they sound good! A Classic 212 or Fender Deville is my quick, grab and go rig with a couple pedals when I can't haul the big-rig around

As for the argument at hand, I think its cool that some players can get the sounds they like and want from an amp that another guitarist may completely hate!

It adds diversity to the music we play. Besides, if we all played the same amps we would get bored talking gear with each other

They have teenagers working in Gibsons Custom shop? So does this mean you won't talk to Neal?

IT IS GOING TO SOUND LIKE A JVM WITH BETTER KNOBS!!!!!!!!! :D Can't wait for you to try it out

I bought this cd and the one from 2003, awesome stuff

Thanks Digi Jams, I enjoyed that rack pic :D I think a lot of Neals tone is in his hands. I have no problem with JVM's, and I have quite a bit of Marshall stuff. New and old. ;) You guys sound like a bunch of whiney schoolgirls

This thread reaks of cork sniffery.

JVM's are awesome amps and so are the alchemists.

Corksniffery of the highest order.

The hate for the JVM is strong here. Jeez. If it cost $4K and was made in Germany it would be the best effing amp ever to these people. If it is readily available at a music store, it sucks. Seriously, you guys know that a lot of people actually use that as criteria.

I think Diezels are unbelievably overrated. Especially for the price tag. :boxer: Yup. I said it. Played them extensively and each time thought the exact same thing. I always thought I just didn't have them dialed in correctly, but nope, I know my way around amps and I have never gotten a tone out of VH4 or Herbert that I thought was anything more than decent. The Herber sounds like a friggin' bass amp for cirissakes!

The JVM is not for everybody, nor is any amp, but to say that it sucks or some other nonsense it just ridiculous. :loco:

Yeah, I've seen more douchery in this thread than I have seen in a LONG time.

Thanx .... i have been working on the upper range of my singing.

...... there is no reason to single out Scott on this ..... I blame Neil. He is the one who started this :scared:  :)

after-re-reading this thread im still pissed.

i'd like some of these guys to say this to my face instead of acting tough over the internet. flame on exactly.

i played the alchemist and didnt like it. but to each their own. the band mystic prophecy used 5150's live back in 2004 with Gus-G. pagan's mind uses them as well as danyeo has pointed out in previous threads. but i still dont understand why i get knocked for taking a 5150 and totally going through it front to back and making it my own?

i agree there isnt anything but cork sniffing in this forum anymore. you arent the beez-neez unless you own 2 things: diezels or axe-fx's.

if that is what you use to get your tone, great. if thats the price you have to pay to get your tone, awsome. as long as you can get it, thats all that counts.

17 modifications i designed have been done to this amplifier. its not the stock 5150 tone, and far from it. like everyone else, i wouldnt even think about purchasing a 5150 or 5150II from what i have heard in the stores.

another thing is, i think the 5150 gets a bad rap because everyone who plays it doesnt play it like its supposed to be played, cranked wide open from 4-6.5. and honestly you cant even test that anymore in stores just because how business is done.

im proud to own a 5150 because it what i use to get my tone. if anyone else continues to think otherwise they can kiss my ass.

this is a rig-talk forum, im expressing how i dis-liked the amplifiers a certain player is using from my own experiences. the fact i get rammed for "talking shit because i own a 5150 II" is absolutely absurd. talk about dis-respect.

with that fact, i have never had the chance to play a JVM. im not a marhsall fan, and everything around here in charlotte is either alchemists, line-6, DSL or TSL.

every person on this earth has a right to play through whatever they please to get their tone from their own hands. thats what it is about. but dont attack the person for what he uses. thats imorally unjustified and total douchery.

"flame on"?... get real.
