I am just sick of pussies that go out and get tough dogs thinking that somehow makes THEM more of a man. I see it all the time these little punks bragging about how "badass" their dogs are. I have small problem with the breed, BUT its the fucking owners that burn my ass most...............John

Yeah I agree with that. Certain dogs are more dominant and prone to biting than others, but in the end it's the owners that are a mess. I saw some medium sized dude the other day walking 2 pit's who were pulling him along, and I was just thinking what a mess that was.
There is a scenario I also see all the time. The other day I saw a little hottie around 23 or so walking a pit that she couldnt control even when it was being mellow. She has NO business walking or even owning that breed.....John
If the dog is even walking in front of the handler, they prolly shouldn't own it let alone pulling them along.

That really sucks. Glad to hear everybody's doing fine. In where I live, the pitbull would have be to put down.

wtf...glad that you, your kids and your dog are OK and sorry that had to happen. I would have killed the Pit right there on the spot either with my bare hands or baseball bat....yeah...yeah..ever seen a Pitbull in a rage? who cares?... ever see me in a rage, I'd prevail :)

Dogs like that need to be eliminated from the gene pool, not just pitts either any dog.

That is terrible. Glad everything is getting back to okay.

I was about to adopt a pair of Pitt puppies from the pound last week. Hearing this story is the final "signal from God", that I should look into a different breed. My son is almost 4.

Wow. I am glad your dog is going to be okay and your children weren't harmed.

Prayers, mojo or whatever is appropriate to your beliefs and sensibilities, comming your way.

A Pitbull has a hinged jaw that clamps down and can tighten to not release unless it wants too. It also has a 2600 lb/per square inch bite. You are very lucky to have gotten it to release. I agree, the dog should be put down. I'm a dog lover...2 beagles...that dog, however, has transended its boundaries. This could easily happen again.

Good to hear everyone is ok John but it is time to tell your neighbor that the Pit now has to be put down, it is an Alpha dog and has proven to be aggressive enough it will not let human's or it's owner stop it from attacking.

The Pit thinks it is over its owner and that is a very dangous dog.

I'm sure you are kidding, however, I'd pay to see you take on an attacking pit bull with your bare hands and prevailing. A fully grown adult would tear you to pieces with no problem if so inclined and there would be little you could do about it...

That is the problem with dogs with this size, speed and strength. Any dog can attack and be vicious for a variety of reasons and it is not only poor training that leads to this, however, the damage a Shih Tzu can do is probably not gonna be much of a problem. :) A pit bull on the other hand is gonna be a problem. A BIG problem...

Frankly, I don't want anything in my house that can rip me to shreds on a whim and has it in its DNA to do so... and I don't want any of my neighbors to be owning something that can do so either... Of course, I have no control over this...

I dont buy that hinged jaw stuff(just a myth see link), http://www.doghobbyist.com/articles/PitMyths.html

AND there are ways of making ANY animal do what you want. Force equals submission during aggressive behavior. Pitbulls are very dangerous dogs BUT they are not a T-Rex by any means ;)

best wishes to you and your dog

im pretty good with dogs, my families owned a springer spaniel and (when hunting was legal in the uk) a load of hounds, then a load of terriers (like 12) they were mischievous little buggers, but i loved them to bits. there was a jack russel called patch, that used to bite on to a rope swing, get some momentum (quite a speed) get wayyy too over excited, bark, and just go flying off over next doors hedge!!

i have no dog at the moment though. i would LOVE a mountain dog, they are amazing.

the owner of the garage i work for has 2 staffies, and im always so nervous around them. they just have that kind of "stance" and menacing look to them, that makes me want to run

It doesn't have to be a T-Rex to rip you apart. Are you suggesting that you could fight off an attacking pit bull with your bare hands? If so, I think you are delusional. It would eat you for breakfast... Your only chance is to shove your fist and arm down its throat and let it gnaw on that until you can get a weapon and kill it.

Thanks bro,
"would that dog have attacked if your dog had not been there that night ?" Question I have asked myself a dozen times. My instincts are No. Since the pit never really turn full attack onto me (or my boy) even when I was beating it to death(or trying to)seems to tell me that this pit had an issue with other dogs/animals.
You guys need to understand that if that pit wanted to it could have eaten off my fingers, if not hands. I got VERY fucking lucky 4- sure.......John

These pictures make me so sad... I hope your dog makes a full recovery...

Thanks Steve, she is doing pretty damn good. To answer your question in in the previous post I do not advocate fighting ANY large dog with your bare hands unless you are into pain and suffering(where did you get that from my post?? lol). What I am saying is that there is more hype about these dogs then there are facts. They are dogs, not some undefeatable mythical beast. If you were being ripped to shreds in front of me I would have no problems jumping in with only my hands AND my ability to reason and feel comfortable that I could in fact save your life. There would be a price to pay(as there was in this event) BUT it would be worth it because I love you sweet cheeks :D .

The reason most people get hurt seriously by dogs is because they freak out and cover up. A Pit is a fairly small dog. I'm not saying you wouldn't lose a finger or something, but I don't think one could kill you if acted aggressively enough. I mean if you could get your hands on it's throat you could choke it out. It would have to get a good hold of your throat, stomach, or groin to really kill you. You could mess it up internally pretty bad by stomping it as well. I wouldn't just sit there and die if one attacked me. A 150lb + dog on the other hand.....................

My hero! :inlove:

And to answer your question, I was reading between the lines in your post a bit too much it appears... I guess I just view these big, strong, fast dogs as pretty formidable when they are beyond reason...

I hope you are never attacked by a pit bull. This is the worst advice ever based on everything I've read about how to stop a dog attack. But good luck with choking it out...

Exactly, humans will always have the advantage in fights with animals of equal size IF they in fact FIGHT smart and furiously.I did in fact do a knee drop onto "King" early on into this fight and it certainly took some of the fight out of this dog, the pistol whipping took some more and Erik was working the kidneys like a champ.I know a dude that posts here that choked out an attacking dog, I will invite him in to give his perspective............John

Maybe man, but I doubt it. Just think if that Pit wasn't distracted by the other dog, your son and neighbor. If the dog was focusing his full furry on you alone...also, think what would have happened if you didn't have the gun to hit him with or any other weapon. I think things might have been much, much worse.
