Also, this has nothing to do with affording gear. This is about what a jackass he is. He’s a great player and the videos of him lately have shown he’s practiced and got the chops to pull off the VH songs which is all you need. Why didn’t he think of adding the cleans on his new amp he just got?

Yep he had a few guitars loaded with piezos. His clean tone never rewrote the book on anything. His base was a piezo loaded guitar with Eventide micro pitch through a w/d/w rig. Thats it.

Also, pretty sure Best of Both Worlds has the same clean tones as Can’t Stop Loving You so why is he managing it here? What’s the difference? Chasing album tones is moot in this case.

 
All he has to do is roll his guitar’s volume off, those guitars of his have a pull-pot to activate a treble bleed. Can’t imagine having to be cleaner than that.
I just read the article. What a crock of shit. Those amps have a response switch, high gain and Plexi modes. The Plexi mode can be set clean. He has FOUR heads. He can set one clean.
I’m losing some respect for Joe. Seems as he’s getting older he’s becoming an asshole.
