I'm playing my 50 watter through a cheap jet city 2x12 with a wgs veteran 30 and et65 mix  Fat sounding with lots of clarity

Could have had a full ivory setup...

C'mon, had to razz you. Enjoy, buddy!

I sold the jet city cab and I got the evh 2x12 cab back

what 12ax7 tubes are you guys rockin? I have a truckload of mixed brands including a bunch of Chinese 12ax7b's that have always sounded great. I know that some of the sockets are splitting the preamp V1 V2 and such. Which ones effect the tone more? I have been using the green set very clean and red for gain.

I found this and thought it might be of some use.

The only amp that changing tubes didn't affect THAT much was an SLO...still made a difference but subtle. Good/better tubes can turn a sterile sounding amp into a beast.

Just bought the 50 watter today.
still am going to need a good cab for it and either going with the stock EVH 2x12 or a 2x12 carvin with V-30's.
I really liked what i heard from the V-30 so i may HAVE to go with the carvin of those two choices.

I love my 50 watt. I have both a 1960 and a carvin 212 with carvin's version of the V30's in it.

The 50 watt sounds so much better through my carvin than the marshall.
Just an overall rounder sound. The 1960 cab is bright to me, although when cranked it calms down a bit.

How are those Carvin GT12's with the 5150 III mini?
Just got the mini head and was considering a carvin 2x12 for it.
I can get it loaded with V 30 for a additional cost from carvin

Well it turns out I've got a problem with my effects loop. When I toggle the loop switch on and off it doesn't engage the loop and I hear no effects. One of the jacks is super tight when I try to plug a cable into it. I hope I can get some time to play with it this weekend. I'm going to try changing out the tube for the loop but I'm pretty sure it's a mechanical problem. I'm wondering if RG955TT still has the warranty card and the purchase receipt and whether he might hook me with them so I can get this thing serviced on the cheap.

I turned up the 50 watt today and it got very very bright, what are you guys doing to get a darker sound if you want it, the amp sounds shitty to me with an EQ in the loop so...Im using v30s in a 2x12 orange cab....

What are your current settings? Try turning down the treble and presence and bringing up the mids.

Didn't someone remedy this using a speaker cable or something to connect to the footswitch?

Listen with your eyes not the knobs. Less treble, presence and raise mids. Also install a tone bra it kills the "higher volume highs"

I agree with everyone. When at volume my highs don't go above 9:00, mids don't go below 3:00 and presence around 10:00, sometimes lower depending on speakers and volume. Always remember that what sounds good alone in your basement is way different sounding than on stage with the band.

I haven't seen anything about that And I'm confused as to how that would work or even be possible as the footswitch only has a 7 pin din for its connector.

I think slave may be referring to the 50w and not aware you have a 100w as the 50w uses a 1/4" cable and the 100 uses the DIN cable.

Jammed again last nite with my drummer. The Stealth just slays in everything we played.
Probably the most powerful amp I have owned/heard. FTW.... :D

Ah well that makes much more sense now.

I don't think the freshman RT'ers realize the weight of this statement as Mailman has owned, flipped and/or played many top tier amps. :D
