ENCORE!
Thanks...and let's hear you play over it too. ;)

Here we go...had a crap day with the nicotin withdrawal...musta blown up at everybody at the office at least 3 times.
Then I get home and I have to rush one of my dogs to the vet and put her down...I hate when life gets in the way...

HOM version...
...well at least the first half of it...I think...
http://www.eddegenaro.com/theory/cmajordemo2.mp3

And a regular Ed demo...demo of (in order of appearance) Cmajor,C lydian, the third mode of A melodic and A harmonic minor across it, and of course there's some C major pentatonic in there.

And against the loop...

Just the guitars...

Was the loop I put the chords over insufficient for a taking a solo?

If you give me a longer one I'll lay down another ii-V-I if you want.

I had totally missed that. Yes it was. But the idea is to use it so one can work out the subs for the chords as well.

CAn't listen now, will tonight.

I will lay something over the backing this weekend so I can get some feedback from you guys. I have thick skin so don't hold back please.

Of course I liked the HOM version :)

But...........the second was more positive in what I am trying to achive and it was good to hear the difference between the maj, Lydian and yeah I heard some "tension" with the minor stuff.

Cool stuff.

Really?! You're becoming a regular Fusioneer.

I want to get away from the root runner stuff and be able to land on something more interesting :)

I experimented with different versions of the A minor scales and loved what it sounded like, just don't tell Ralph and the boys please.

Tomorrow I am back to the main lesson here, just got my 7 stringer and was way to fired up to pay attention to my work here. I may be a 7 string head, just loved it and what it could bring to the table.

Sorry about your dog Ed, I should have stated that after reading your post.

Thanks mang...you'd think by now I'd get used to it since this is a common occurence with so many resues coming through here.

Great examples Ed...you can really hear how the lydian scale is one of Eric Johnsons favorites to use.

Landing on those F#s and E's to end the phrase is a bitch... :?

Depends on where on the neck you are...say 5th, 7th and 12th position really lend itself to that.

You know I never thought about it this way with EJ, always thought he just liked to use the m pentatonic in every conceivable way. Like down a 1/2 step over major 7th chords. As in over A major to C# minor, you play G# minor pentatonic.
But know that you mention it it does make sense. Lydian to me is like Vai.

Reading through your first post Ed and you should place the number with the notes........

Cmaj CEG 1-3-5

Just looking to make things easier :D

FAir enough, I will get that done.

Ok, so I have been on the mentonome drilling several Lydian patterns and learning the notes as I go...is this right or should I be doing something else? I have been learning two octave patterns btw.

I still have to work on the minor stuff.

Not a big fan of patterns when it comes to getting scales under your fingers. But rather actual notes. As in if I play this note over this chord it sounds _______________, and this makes my ears go___________

Hence the backings up there.

And on a different note-I posted that in the guita section over here, the new acoustic is way cool...
