Thinking of going low gain

You want a pedal platform, so I think your options are a lot more diverse than you think.

Look into brands like Bad Cat, Cornford and Divided by 13.

Also, don't forget Morgan Amps, with an AC20 or AC30 likely to be good choices for your application.
I would give Divided by 13 a hard pass based on my experience with Fred. I was told by him in no uncertain terms that I had no business owning his amps, after I called him to tell him the brand new amp I bought custom ordered through his dealer arrived with horrible ghosting and a farty sound that trailed every single note I played at any volume. I told him he no business being in business and took the amp back for a full refund. Fuck you Fred! Turned out that problem happened with a few RSA amps he built. So again, fuck you Fred hahahahaha

Wow, that sucks. I've heard good things about those amps, surprised you had such a bad experience.

Glad you got the refund. I think the problem is that the builder never considered the possibility, "Hey, I might have goofed," which any sane person will recognise can happen to anybody if you are familiar with Murphy's Law.

The kids be saying he

- Sounds old
- Is awsome and respectable

I have a different take on what they mean, based on usage:
- Boomer: "Old man, you're getting weak and frail, now is the time of us young queer homos, we are many, and this term is how we will bring you down."
- GigaChad: "This is an ignoramus but he's got muscles and is good looking and more importantly isn't afraid to beat the shit out of us young queer homos, so we'll name him our king even though he's not quite alpha."

fuck dan, it ain't looking good. All those besides the hiwatt turned me off

Your ears do not fool you, I was gonna suggest a Hiwatt. Lately, I've been playing a lot with my DR103. A Plexitube into it sounds just as good as my 2203. A MXR 5150 OD into it is really brutal.

I have recently been bullied by a youtuber, and possibly this is just reeling from that. But i am thinking of grabbing a fender twin neo, and making it a pedal platform.

How good/bad is it? @VonBonfire how you feel about this thing?
Honestly I would use any amp with a loop. I’m using a pv Windsor for my Thors hammer pre. Wah, boost, hammer, eq, into the pv’s return. It’s righteous.

Or you do what I just did and get one of these... 3rd Power Clean Sink V1. This amp is ridiculous and can be blended from American / Fender > to VOX AC30, or dialed to one or the other. I scored a rarity though as this one is 40 watts EL34 vs 20 watts 6V6. this will see gig use soon and no issues keeping up with a loud drummer. I haven't played the MKII version.

I'll second the Top Hat thing though, owned a few different versions, killer amps. There's a good deal on one locally here but after a week or so with the Clean Sink I'm sticking with this. I've also got a 3rd Power Wooly Coats Spanky MKII that I'll probably need to sell soon to cover this one, but won't be disappointed to keep it too, phenom hot rodded Princeton type rig....

This is a badass little side by side video. the real trick is to show the ai transcript so that you can go to each time he tries something different with each. Very thorough video...and no clickbait or sellout shit..

100%. The amps are absolutely fucking ridiculous, built bombproof and look badass in person. My little chocolate brown Wooly Coats MKII is a gem as well. I would highly highly encourage looking into them for the sounds you're going for...

I’ve always wanted a kitchen sink from 3rd power. I’ve seen it destroy well known builder amps at amp fests.

Do A Hiwatt and I'll think you're cool with no gain . You really do have to go big or go home though!

Of course there was one dude walking around with his towel on his shoulder. His nickname was quarter horse….anything that big should have a rib cage and guts. I still hate that guy….
Lol, we had a guy like that. His nickname was "Boneyard" but not because of his size, it was because he looked like a skeleton. Probably 6' 2 and weighed probably 120 pounds. At practice the ball would hit him and he would look all a mess and you would hear the pads, his bones, everything, just banging together like a bag of bones.

In the showers, it looked like a Greyhound bus swinging between his legs.

YES COME TO THE HIWATT SIDE

Nah he's kind of a legendary asshole hahaha

Dan, do i need dr103, or is there something else? I would rather go sub 100 for a clean amp, but if i must, i must

The DR504 would work, too.

Just a hair less headroom, same preamp circuit

Still going to be about as loud as a 100w high gainer, but more manageable than the DR103, which similar in volume to a marshall major IME

Easier to find an attenuator that could handle it as well

I’ve had 2 Divided By 13’s and tried a few others too. What he’s describing is just part of their sound. I don’t think they’re bad amps, I actually liked some things about them, but for the price range they’re in there are plenty of overall better amps out there IME. I’d say similar for Bad Cat, Cornford and Morgan. I don’t like Morgan’s at all. They kind of are to Vox’s what Friedman is too Marshall, but even more so. Cornford’s are pretty good actually, but not what I’d use as a pedal platform or ideal clean amp
