Thinking of going low gain

If all else fails a Fender Twin is a pretty good benchmark, imo.
I was forced to write this under duress.
Oh my…

Fender twins are great.

There's a bunch of different flavors, though, of low gain tan pants toan

I think chris should try a handful before committing

Def. I don't know what he's after, I am just never unhappy plugging into my TRRI if I'm looking to drive Miss Daisy :ROFLMAO:
Something else I may recommend looking into that have impressive cleans (if not impressive, at least very surprising) ime are the SATAN, Thrasher, and Diavlo. That way he can keep his camo shorts.

I was called a 'boomer' and a 'gigachad'. I dont even know what that means, but it sounds terrifying.

I remember in highschool. The kids were so cruel. And in sports they made you shower together. People would point at me and laugh. "Hey guys, look at tripod."

Who the fuck wants to be called tripod?
You must be Generation Y, Tripod. :D

@Smash if you want to dip a toe in the clean tone world, I would try a few amps before buying.

There's fender style, VOX style, hiwatt style, and a handful of other popular ones, and they all sound and react really differently to one another.

If you like the fender style, a vintage silverface fender (of whatever wattage/gain level suits you) or a Boogie cali tweed are the best options IMO

If you like Vox style, there are a million options, but for relatively inexpensive stuff the TopHat are the best bang for buck IMO

If you like hiwatts, you gotta go big or go home unfortunately

I would avoid the digital stuff for clean pedal platforms unless you wanna play Cure covers - in that case, buy a Roland Jazz clean

Edit: watch some youtube videos of people playing these different types of amps, with different types of guitars.

Hiwatt

Fender/Cali tweed

Vox

Or you do what I just did and get one of these... 3rd Power Clean Sink V1. This amp is ridiculous and can be blended from American / Fender > to VOX AC30, or dialed to one or the other. I scored a rarity though as this one is 40 watts EL34 vs 20 watts 6V6. this will see gig use soon and no issues keeping up with a loud drummer. I haven't played the MKII version.

I'll second the Top Hat thing though, owned a few different versions, killer amps. There's a good deal on one locally here but after a week or so with the Clean Sink I'm sticking with this. I've also got a 3rd Power Wooly Coats Spanky MKII that I'll probably need to sell soon to cover this one, but won't be disappointed to keep it too, phenom hot rodded Princeton type rig....

They are one of my favorites, wish I could play, fondle, any of them, lol.

I built one years ago. I'm not sure I really know exactly how it sounds because I've always played it with an Attenuator.. So unless you can play an amp wide open, it's not very practical..

It's definitely not Metal, but the rollback is killer and the sound you get depends on the guitar and pickups..

I was going for Bad Company tone on this so it's close..

that sounded really good man. you should bring that next time you jam with that keyboard player, volume be damned

1985…. Football. We all got in a line naked with towels around our waists. The doctor and his assistant plus our trainer dude were set up in the middle of the locker room. They did our sports physicals like that. Today if they did something like that it would be nuts how people would react. Of course there was one dude walking around with his towel on his shoulder. His nickname was quarter horse….anything that big should have a rib cage and guts. I still hate that guy….
Hell, when we had to shower after PE everyone thought I had a pink hair until I pissed out of it , It was 6th grade for god's sake. I was a late bloomer :sneaky:

That would scare away every jazzer for the rest of time..
Wide open, in which it was intended to run, is basically 50 watts..
