Guess who ALWAYS wins a roadside legal argument? The cop. You may prevail in court, 2 years and $10K later, after being arrested and booked into jail and having your vehicle impounded and paying bail to get out of jail. But is that really a "victory"?

Well if you read the link someone posted the guy won a settlement from the city albeit because of an off duty drunk officer I think with cameras rolling is his car he was just out looking to become the victim and sue the city again.

Stress affects everyone differently; I know I can be an asshole at times when I'm impatient and stressed out. I think that is the reasoning for some cops coming off as pricks, hell I'd be stressed out as well if I had to risk my life everyday at work too but also understand that was a choice made by whoever decides to becomes a cop -- taking that out on joe citizen isn't cool. I've had a few cops come off with attitudes and I can understand that...as long as you remain polite, cordial and answer the questions honestly they just do their jobs and either let you walk or issue as citation.

Yeah, except hooters girls don't get shot at, or have people try to ram them with a car, etc. That's a big damn difference. Maybe that would stress you out, regardless of whether you liked/wanted that job or not. For example, I like flying, I dislike when people shoot at me while I'm flying, it stresses me out sometimes, sometimes I then act like an asshole. Perhaps they tire of pricks acting like its not a big thing blowing through school zones at 70 mph. Perhaps more than like the job they want to make some kind of difference, or make things safer for their family, and feel the need to do their job regardless of stress. Bottom line, they're human too, so I'm not sure why they aren't supposed to make mistakes in higher-stakes situations.

To be honest. Most of the people Ive ever heard talk shit about cops. Are young teenagers that dont know shit. I used to do that. Even after i wouldnt stop speeding, And aquired 38 tickets. Lost license twice, Been arrested a few times, In jail for being a dumbass. I mean.... Yeah. Cops might suck because they busted me.... But, After all there are signs on teh road that clearly told me what my speedometer should read. Its my fault.

And just wont take responsibility. And if you want

I have no pity for these people. If I was a cop Id probably be harder

I'm gonna repost this since you're too fucking stupid to go back and read the thread.

If I get stopped for doing some shit I shouldn't have been doing I'm polite and I take my medicine and shut the fuck up. The cop that's busting me is doing his job and whether I'm happy about the outcome or not, I don't have a problem with him. It's when I'm not doing anything wrong and I have to deal with attitude from a cop that I have a problem.

When I was 17 my POS car ran out of gas on VA Rt 66 West because the gauge was messed up. I walked to the nearest exit and saw a cop giving a ticket. I stayed on the other side of the street and waited til he was done and the car had driven off before I approached him. When I did and tried to tell him my problem I was met with hostility and just shitty attitude. So I said - whatever, just cut your losses and get on with trying to find a phone. That POS went and had my car towed. You know if you don't wanna help a dumb ass kid who fucked up, that's fine - but why fuck him up worse than he was before he "bothered" you?

Went out to TX to pick up a car from my uncle when I was 19. Blew a tire in LA on the way home to VA. Put on the 4ways and changed the tire. When I tried to start the thing -- oh shit dead battery. The first cop who stopped started asking me where I was coming from and where I was going - no problem, I told him. Then he asked if I had any tools in my trunk that might help the situation. I told him I didn't and he said "open the damn trunk". When he didn't find anything interesting he was all "well I can't help you but I'll call a tow out for you" - hopped in his car and left. Oh yeah so 5 hours later around 11PM the next cop came up behind me. Well he actually was really nice! We talked a little and he said I'll bump you down the road and put you at an exit and call a tow to pick you up. We sat in his nice air conditioned car for a while and made small talk and I started to get the distinct impression that he was trying to pick me up. WTF!!! I think the only thing that ended a really weird night was one of his superiors pulled up and seemed to be really pissed but told him to let me out at the gas station just down the road and get back to patrolling.

WTF kind of protecting and serving is this?

Attitude I can have. Nowhere does it say I cannot. It is only when I bring that to what I do that it becomes a problem. That goes with everything. I can be pissed off all day, but I do not let it effect my job or the people around me. If I speak my mind and I'm a bit ticked off, then so be it.
