This is the second time I've sold something (amp/guitar...something well over $1k) on reverb, where the person buys it but then doesn't pay right away. THe first guy eventually bought it, but WTF, took 2 days to pay and multiple messages before he responded.

I just sold something else. Guy had made an offer, I countered within minutes with my best price. He waited 23.5 of the 24 hours to accept. Messaged me and said thanks. I told him once I get payment I'd ship right away. He responded (so he saw the message, not like he disappeared back into the work day). 1/2 a day later and still no payment.

Every time I have ever bought something on reverb I paid for it right after I hit buy.

WTF?

I believe this phenomenon is 33% people who still think affirm offers 0% financing, 33% people spending next weeks paycheck with a maxed out credit card, and 33% of people are indecisive.
I agree though, it’s second only to sellers who back out after payment. Real treats!

I saw he has a listing himself. I really hope he didn't wait until the last minute of my offer to accept (stalling 24 hours) and then plans to stall 3 more days and hope and pray his item sells so he can buy mine...backing out if it doesn't at the 71st or 72 hours.

I've had more than a few "buy" an item, and not actually pay. Unclear if Reverb cares or does anything about it.

OMG , how the F does that work .

good question.

Obviously, I never sent the item, and usually have to decline the offer.

Then, it actually adds these "offers" to my offer count. I have a few items with offers thanks to these bozos; now some of these offers are low-ball, which I selected Reverb option to ignore; that doesn't seem to work all the time either.

If I list an item for $800, I'm not taking $500 or less!

Yeah hopefully not, that’s some real scummy behavior if that’s his plan.

Buying things but only if what they're selling sells in the next 48 hours LOL.

I just checked his is no longer listed (Reverb used to show sold vs end, but no longer). He had an offer showing so maybe he was just waiting to see if it something better came before it expired. Knowing he had an offer either way, just wanted to wait to pay mine until after he got paid on his. That's not terrible. As long as you plan to pay within 24 hours regardless of a better offer or the current offer.

The Reverb low-ball threshold is stupid, I wish you could set a minimum yourself. The default is 64%. If I'm listing something on reverb, it's within 10%, or maybe 15% what I'm willing to accept for it. But even with the auto-decline low ball thing, I still get people sometimes offering 500 bucks for a $1500 item, then they'll try 550, then 600 before giving up. Totally brainless.

Fucking Reverb!!!!!

I love my Dr. scientist Reverberator, very much.
Decided to buy another for a secondary board.

Found one on Reverb, mind you I have great reviews, bought and sold plenty.
Make an offer, gets accepted and I pay immediately.
I always pay IMMEDIATLY! If I didn't have the funds I wouldn't be looking...

Shipping label created and I then notice FedEx signature required.
I message seller and let him know I wouldn't have bought if I knew it was being shipped signature required.

Apologizes and tells me it must be a default setting. Cancels and refunds money no problem.
I repurchase.
Same thing, signature required, but seller caught it this time. Unchecked the box.
Next thing you know, emails saying purchase cancelled and money refunded a second time.

I message seller and he tells me Reverb stepped in and told him not to sell/send it to me because without signature required, I am going to scam him?

Worked out for the best though.
The second one I went to buy, the seller had a very familiar avatar.

Yup, someone I have messaged with in the past at TGP.
Had pedal in two days, and cost me less.

Don't get me started on the new Vibe Machine I paid for immediately, free priority shipping, and going to take a week to get to me.
Kicker is, it is only about four hours away from me...

Doesn't Reverb let you use PayPal Credit? That's six mos. interest-free financing. I've done that when I had gear I needed to sell to cover what I was buying, never paid them a dime of interest. I know eBay used to allow, haven't bought anything big on Reverb in a while. But if PayPal Credit is still an option, there's no reason someone can't pay with it.

Hey, it's his wait, too...you aren't sending it till you have the money in your account, right?
On the other hand, I waited 3 days after Reverb said my order went through for them to acknowledge shipping it...and they were only Firebird screws...and then they were the wrong ones (flat bottom heads instead of countersunk like the vintage tuners use...and when I messaged them about it, they insisted those were the ones I ordered and that's what Firebird tuners use...
Yes...some people do suck...
Off soapbox thank you for your shoulders...
Simply don't send it till you have his money, complain to Rvrb if it's too long...

Yes. But the concern was if he is having second thoughts and backs out, seller loses out on other potential sales during that time.

This one worked out, but I agree with Devin the listing shouldn't be considered sold until buyer pays. Ticketmaster does let you hold tickets more than ten minutes before its back on the market. Just because it's in your cart doesn't mean it's sold until you pay.

I just had an issue with Reverb as a buyer and they are the worst in helping you out. They basically ignore you and claim they are working on it without responding to any emails you send them. Worst customer service ever!
