Yes, I think i will order the EG5........I like having more treble and mids on tap and being able to roll back than always searching for more. Having the B'Man, MHG and EG5 covers a lot of territory...plus saves me from needing a boost for leads.

I tend to like a module or any amp to be able to cover huge variety just by rolling back the gain or volume on the amp. I'd rather roll back the gain on the MHG or EG5 or roll back my volume to get lighter rock tones when I need them. Another reason I like hotter pickups for a similar reason. Afterall....the audience doesn't care! As long as you get the vibe down. I keep going back to my guitar tech friend who runs a Marshall live and cranks the gain, using his guitar volume for all adjustments in gain.

I agree. The EG5 sometimes gets this reputation of being an extremely bright, 80s hair module. There are many different high gain tones in that module. Just EQ with your ears not your eyes. Run the treble around 9 oclock or lower and it wont be too bright. You'll have tons of gain and a great ripping tone.

Honestly, if you use alot of gain, the SL2 might not have enough for you. It IS high gain, but if you want obscene like MHG, your only option is EG5.

Just because I didn't like the EG5 for ME and my brand of stink doesn't mean I can't recommend it to some lost soul who has yet to feel it's vulgar power. ;)

Guys, I emailed Egnater and they can do any custom mod, EG4/4 or SL2 with two of the same high gain channels! I know when I listen to the EG3/4 samples....they sound identical but with more gain on 4 so again...just having two 4 channels and rolling back the gain should get me what I want. Does anyone know if 3/4 are different other than gain? That was my dilema all along. I like a set up similar to the MHG...two identical channels so I can adjust gain at the amp or with the volume. Thanks for thinking of this! They said it will cost $400 and it is not returnable. Isn't $400 the standard price?

The good thing is, I don't hear cutting through the mix problems from EG3/4 owners.
