The roads in that area are very narrow. Every time I've been up there I've thought of what a nightmare it would be if a big fire broke out up there.
Was watching footage of two guys in a house with a dog that had to evacuate. That wind made it look like the fires of hell outside their windows. Like a blacksmiths' forge. Hill country man, the fires just jump from place to place. When it gets dry and breezy here we all text or call if any of us sees a smoke plume of any kind. '23 it made it to my bro's neighbor and they were finally able to control it. People move here from more lush places and will be burning big brush piles during burn bans, right underneath foliage, cognizant of nothing.Live coverage Hollywood Hills fire: https://abc7.com/watch/live/
This link below has links to different fire dept scanner feeds within LA county. Palisades, Lidia, and Eaton are there. I use this same broadcastify to keep an ear on minute to minute here in Hays co. You'll hear where fires are breaking out and whether they are being contained or not. They have this setup already specific to LA Fire.

Cancel that Santa Monica hotel part. Even if for some reason it doesn't get evac orders tonight, you won't be able to breathe. Your eyes will feel like you opened them in ocean water.OK. Sorry. Fresh water then
Yeah, our LA portion of the trip is definitely in limbo. Wife on the phone now with hotel in event we need to cancel. It is on ocean in Santa Monica.
@angelspade - hope your gear, home, friends, etc are all safe.
