Dylana at 3rd Power Amps to build Satriani his next amp for the tour

The real problem with their safe space is it's their bedroom and "they" want to impose their beliefs on everyone outside of it. That's where we have a problem.

to be fair, not ALL trans people care all that much about changing people's minds. We have been told this story or forced into thinking we are all terrible people but in reality, a lot of trans people just want to be left alone and do their own thing. They aren't out there being like Dylan and making a fool out of themselves, they are just living their lives with a ton of inner turmoil and nothing any of us would want to have to deal with. I'd rather advocate for mental health than tampons in men's washrooms. Being force fed the culture constantly is actually making people less tolerant and that in turn is making it harder for trans people to get by day to day. Both Canada and the US have bigger fish to fry.. poverty, drug epidemic, inflation and housing. The fact that they keep spotlighting not even 1% of the population is alarming.

If you don’t like it there’s this awesome ignore feature on the forum. I suggest you either learn to use it or don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I don’t condone the anti trans material but I also don’t condone others telling everyone what to do because they’re offended. This is not your safe space.
Ah I see why my post was taken so poorly. People don’t want to be told what to do. Thats fine. For the record, I wasn’t offended, I am just surprised how many bigots are on here.

In terms of the amp, good for 3rd power for getting a big endorsement like Joe. Ive never tried one of their amps but most reports are stellar. It’s true there are tons of people who already built amps that do early VH tones but Ill bet he’s after something different. Less accurate circuit and probably more about a feel or sound for his interpretation of that tone.

Yep, like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I've been paying attention to 3rd Power since the beginning, and besides maybe saying it was a personal thing, the "transition" has been insignificant to the business. The Tone Talk video I don't recall if the topic came up at all in the few hours, and Dylana was able to talk about "Jamie era" stuff without hesitation. I respect Her freedom to do what she wants, and she keeps tone the driver of the business. And that's something I couldn't fathom a reason to not support. I like tone.

SOOOO....anyway back on topic...

I've never been a JS fan but do respect his playing. This seems sort of ridiculous but whatever. I mean if you're THAT good of a player, you can make any amp work. How about working on the swing and feel of EVH instead? I mean fuck, even his PV JSX can cop a decent VH tone. Its obvious there's more than meets the eye with all of this. Whatever. Not a big deal but funny.

Agree. It’s not rocket science. Victor Johnson, Sammy’s regular guitarist has no problem playing VH, Montrose, etc with his Bray amps. Satriani needs a ground-up build to get tones many other amps easily cop. I question his sanity to take this gig. It’s a lose-lose situation. Like getting The Edge play a Hendrix Tribute.

Thank you.

I didn't create this thread to get everyone's opinion on transgenderism. If I had, I would have gone about it differently. I happen to be a big Van Halen fan (like a lot of us on here) and this IMO is Van Halen related news that Talks about Rigs. :dunno:

I also happen to be a big believer in free speech, people living their own lives without my involvement, and the freedoms the Mods give us here.

Exactly where I'm at. He wants to cover Montrose -to- Red Rocker -to-Van Halen -to- Chickenfoot. I don't understand why a JVM can't do that.
Or a JSX? Or a EVH? Or a (insert amp)? But I respect his ability and he makes a good living playing guitar - something I can't say. My actual fear is, he is going to go through all of this and in the end it won't matter because the 'Feel' won't be there in his hands. Montrose has a lot of swing to it too. Focus on the swing and feel and less on how you can't find an amp that will 'fix' everything for you :dunno:

That was my interest in the topic.

I'm with you on this. I think the whole Howard Stern debacle really messed with his head and confidence. If he didn't rehearse like he said, own up to it with the public and move on. Mind you I do realize he has some of the biggest shoes to fill with this so maybe his mental toughness is not up to par.

Yeah I'm still baffled about the EVH amp sounding small. But I agree his JVM would probably be even more well suited to cover all those bases.

I think he was.

look at those chest and neck pubes.....but if it makes a killer amp-get ya some..... :ROFLMAO:

guy I got my avatar cab off of picked up a truckload of those triangle speaker cabs with 3 12"s...I need to track him down cause I need another cab. If he hooks me up three of those would be cool.....same company right?

lol he did

"It was my own naïveté. I had no idea. When we were gonna do that show, I remember saying to Sam, 'Do we really wanna show people what we sound like at six in the morning?' Plus we've never rehearsed. And I've avoided learning any of these songs for, like, three decades 'cause I never wanted to sound like Eddie. But Sam, he has such a positive attitude towards life. He's, like, 'No, it'll be great. We'll just get together. We'll have fun.' He said to me, he goes, 'Howard's going to ask you about your artwork and about this and all this.' And I said, 'Okay, yeah, fine.' So, silly me. Obviously, it's not turning out like that. And Howard asked me that question. And I should have just laughed and not played anything, but I was just being totally honest — maybe 'cause I was so sleepy [laughs] 'cause it was so early, and I just thought, 'Oh, yeah, sure.' I just felt like I was among friends, and I said, 'Yeah, I'll show you what I've been trying to play.' But, yeah, technically, I've gotta work on that a little bit.' [Laughs]

i mean what a fucking joke. and people are gonna pack arenas for this shit :dunno:

First thing Satch must do is ditch the pickups he's using...

So nasaly...they are good for his leads and legatos but for EVH stuff..

Agreed. I know it is cliché at this point but a high quality Charvel (or even Fender or Jackson) bolt on strat with maple board and a Seymour Duncan HB is what he needs. Hell, the DiMarzio Super Distortion should work fine. That's what is in my Strat. And the JVM and some pedals. Boom.

This thread sucks. Who gives a shit about what "satch" needs to do. It's been done countless times by far better, same with the amp build but gear-wise I'm watching to see what Dylan is going to build. That is the most interesting thing about this whole process and more fascinating would be if he ends up starring as the Batchelor which seems entirely possible. I don't know how you guys can take this shit so seriously. My wife loves reality shows, maybe she should join RT too.

Whatever Dylan comes up with, it probably won't have any balls.

I get it . These guys have nothing to prove . Get rehearsed a little better and go out on tour and have fun . It will probably be a decent show but if someone doesn't think so----Don't go ! Easy.

You aren’t the only one to say this…why exactly? And do you mean a bunch of guys touring playing music they wrote is ridiculous or a guitar player about to go on tour looking to buy a new amp is ridiculous?
That he's blaming gear for his lack of capturing the EVH spirit based on a one-off performance for a radio show that was sort of a dud. Again, who cares. He stated he didn't practice for it. He's got time to rehearse and give it his best shot. He's a very capable player.

Also, I never stated I cared about him purchasing or endorsing new gear. Its just ridiculous that he's blaming the readily available gear he has access to for its sub par tone. Funny because Ed never had a problem with a modded plexi, Soldano Slo. When he did, he moved on to Peavey and then decided to do his own amps....which according to Mr. Satch....sounds small. Play a 100W Stealth EL34 and get back to me.
